Wicca Official Worldwide Community of Pagans Wiccans & Neopagans

Wicca Wiccans Pagans and Free Souls.. live different.. be Neopagan!

My name is Gawaine Caldwater Ross. Aside from Native Americans I claim to be one of the first pagans in the country. In 1974 I read two books that knocked my socks off- Primitive Religion and Patterns in Comparative Religion by Mircea Eliade. I became a worshiper of the Goddess right then.
I'm a pagan priest. ordained by the Rowan Tree in Minneapolis. I've done two exorcisms and a banishing, "made" it rain once, and did a successful love spell for myself, although now I wish it hadn't been successful.
I have a supernatural thriller published on www.lulu.com and have had a number of poems published. I also have a wiki at http://worshipaphrodite.wetpaint.com

I didn't know any one else who was, is what I'm saying. I knew that a lot of great things were going on in California but that was a long way from me and I had no contact with people out there. I didn't even hear of the goddess wing of the feminist movement until about 1979 or so (I went decades without watching TV or having subscriptions to magazines and newsletters that could have kept me informed - didn't have the money for this).
I was proud that I came to this myself without any outside help.
So maybe I am making too big a deal of this. My apologies. I don't want to put anyone off.
Blessings,
Gawaine
Are you at all involved in COG, The Standing Stones, or The Tree and The Well Center her in the Twin Cities?
Hi Gawaine, Well I think the item about being a first pagan in the US has been handled... It also depends how you want to define Pagan vs Wiccan... but I believe there were Wiccans much earlier than the '70s in the US. But your reply to this is constructive, so enuf about that for now.
On another note, thanks for starting a discussion and introducing yourself. If you are an avid book reader about spirituality or along that subject, we have a cool group called Books: Read It? Recommend? and you are more than welcome to join it. I'm interested in the thriller you published on lulu... tell us more! And, FYI there is a poetry group here as well. You might enjoy being a member there also.

Thanks for joining the community. Unchain freedom, live different, be yourself!
