something interesting in the forest

hey all, I just have something that I might need some help with, its a bit of a story though. I was out on a hike with my dad in an old cedar and redwood forest on the sunshine coast in british columbia (canada), and we were on our way back from a lake we went to. on the way back I was casually looking around through the woods kind of letting my eyes go where they would and as I took a quick look at the stream (I know this is gonna sound weird) I saw a kid with bright blonde hair and bright blue eyes(kinda glowing even) with long ears crouched in the stream, looking right at me. for a brief second(not even a second maybe), we met eye contact and then my eyes darted away and then I looked back kinda dumbfounded. there was nothing there that even resembled a kid, I looked around to see if my eyes were playing tricks on me, but couldn't find anything. I dont know why, but I felt that it was a spirit watching us for amusment. also, after that I saw him I felt like I was being watched all the way out of the woods. it was strange that noone else noticed it and I'm quite sure I saw it. normally though, when I see something out of the corner of my eye or such, I can find a logical explanation and I couldn't for this so it really freaked me out at first. (I hope i"m not going insane). I was just wondering if anyone might know what the term for it might be, (spirit, ghost) so I might have some idea what I saw.
