The smells, oh the sweet smells of living beings. The cafe is alive with their energy, I can feel it pulsating through the air around me. The small little man behind the counter looks over at me, smiles, and sends some young thing over my way. She's a pretty thing, I'll give her that. With long blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and a tall, slender frame she caught the eye of every male in the place. It's so interesting to watch how humans interact with each other. How they flirt and giggle with each other. Like a flock of birds, singing and dancing about hoping to impress the prettiest female.

She reappear with my order, I never knew I had even made one. But if she's gonna bring me something that smells of cinnamon and gingerbread, I'll drink it. I inhale deeply, oh I love coffee. The sweetest of the gingerbread makes me feel like laughing. Oh yea that's just what I need to do. Then all these people can look at me like I'm insane. Not that I'm not getting stared at already. With my long pitch black hair that hangs to my hips and my ivory skin, I look like the classic idea of the Americanized vampire. Just what Hollywood wants us to believe. Ha, like any of this crap holds any truth. If these poor people only knew the truth. I mean, ok fine...we don't like sunlight but that's simply because our skin is so fair we burn easily. That and our eyes are made for hunting in the dark. Bright lights kinda interfere with that a little bit. Crosses do not scare us. I wear a cross I got in France! Holy water same story. All this make believe nonsense is just beyond me. I mean we were once normal humans just like you. We went about our daily lives like anybody else.
Now, well now things aren't that different. Yes I am now a hunter. I look for those who will be missed and those who deserve to go missing. But I don't see myself as evil or a monster. I am a creature of nature, same as anything else. A creature yes, but one that has been for as long as time has be recorded. I myself have seen thousands of years go by. I've seen the greatest cities in the world rise and fall. Seen the leaders who changed the world and the wickedness that would have left the world to burn. There are times I believe I have seen to much. Been a witness to such terrible things and such wondrous discoveries. But I will forever be grateful for this gift, however dark it may be.
