You lean in as my breath is taken, Oxygen pulsing threw my veins, A steady beat, Keeping me alive, And yet still I catch you off guard, As I say, “This human condition” With tears in my eyes, “No longer sleeps” Beneath the skin, The blood begins to boil, “Freya why do you not hear me?” This heart of mine contains strength, But maybe my fate doesn’t contain love, “Or is this a test?” To measure the power within, Find where my faith lingers, A spirit of hope and dreams, My soul will rest with my goddess, “Would Diana begrudge me?” For following the human condition, And standing at the crossroads, The hounds following the scent of honey, To this statue, Which I call my body, Flesh and bone, As the serpents wrap around me, I gaze at the new moon, Before the full, Honoring the dark one of the crossroads, Walking in her garden of Wolfbang, Her lessons sometimes hard, Punctuated with her scourge, The power of choice forging her blade, “Will you help me defeat my demons?” A powerful allie threw out history, Holy daughter of the bosomed night, Dark bearer of light, “Hecate, Give me strength, “ To survive your lessons to be learnt, “I offer myself to you, of heart, body, mind, soul, and spirit” Let your torches light my way.
