Merry Met Everyone!
This year will be my first time celebrating Yule. Since I don't have a fireplace, I will be getting a pine log and drilling three holes in it for a red, green and white candle. Since, traditionally, a Yule log is burned and then part of it is saved to start the fire on the next year's Yule log my questions are thus: 1) When exactly IS winter solstice this year? 2) Does it matter what time on Solstice I light the candles and do I let them burn for 12 hours like the Yule log? 3) Do I dispose of the log and candles (I can burn them in my fire circle) or do I save all or part for next year using the candle stubs to light next year's candle? 4) What is a good ritual/prayer to say for the lighting?
Thanks in advance for your guidance!
