Air Lesson:

Emotions present when channeled: daydreaming; intense concentration on a difficult problem; an abstract appreciation of mathematical elegance, artistic skill, or superior craftsmanship; a sense of distance and detachment.

Attuning to Air:
-go outside on a windy day

-learn to whistle

-watch clouds

-learn to make incense, and burn it often

-watch birds and other flying creatures

-be aware of your breathing

-Air has the qualities of being warm and moist--take a hot shower, and then relax in the steam

-boil water and pour it into a bowl--scry with the steam

-do mirror scrying


An Exercise:

Sit comfortably. Breathe in, pause, then breathe out. Feel the air fill your lungs, feel it leave your body. Become one with the air. Once you are comfortable with this, try to further it.
Sit comfortably, and hold your hands in front of you, parted slightly. Visualize a bottle or box between your hands. Inhale deeply, and as you exhale, visualize the air coming out of you going into the container between your hands. Three to five breaths should fill it. Then, inhale back into yourself from the bottle with the same amount of breaths. Practice this until it is easy for you.

Earth Lesson:

Emotions present when channeled: sense of security, confidence in your own strength, ability to ignore minor sources of irritation, desire to just sit down and do nothing

Attuning to Earth:
-walk barefoot

-go rock hunting

-utilize crystals in magick and divination

-make herbal tinctures and potions

-grow a garden

-make a zen rock garden

-lean against a tree or lay on grass and meditate

An Exercise:
Sit comfortably, preferably on the ground outside. Breath in, imagining the power of Earth filtering through your body, to your lungs. Feel it's heaviness, slowness, and grounding. Breathe out, and feel those qualities leave you. Do this a few times until you are comfortable with it.
Now, sit comfortably, preferably on the ground outside. Hold your hands in front of you, a few inches apart. Imagine a bottle or box between your hands. Breathe in, imagining the power of Earth filtering through your body, into your lungs. Feel it's heaviness, slowness, and grounding. Breathe out, channeling that energy into the bottle between your hands. Fill it in a matter of 3 to 5 breaths, then empty it back into the earth in the same number of breaths.

Water Lesson:

Emotions present when channeled: love, sorrow, courage to continue on a difficult path with no end in sight, enduring rage born of long, silent suffering, hope that springs eternal.



Attuning to Water:
-take baths and showers

-go swimming

-drink water

-make offerings to Water in streams or lakes

-take a walk in the rain

-perform water scrying in a bowl or cauldron



An Exercise:
Sit comfortably, preferably in a bath. Breathe in, imagining the Water filtering through your skin, into your body, flushing your body with its power. Feel it's cleansing. Breathe out, and feel the water leave your body, pouring back into the tub. Do this a few times until you are comfortable with it.
Now, sit comfortably, preferably in a bath. Hold your hands in front of you, a few inches apart. Imagine a bottle or cask between your hands. Breathe in, imagining the water entering your body through your skin. Feel it's wetness, cleansing in your body.. Breathe out, channeling that energy into the bottle between your hands. Fill it in a matter of 3 to 5 breaths, then empty it back into the bath tub in the same number of breaths.

Fire Lesson:
Emotions present when channeled: intense and urgent, but usually passing quickly, desire, anger, joy, panic. Without Fire to prod the other elements along, the world would likely settle into a rather uninteresting fixed state.


Attuning to Fire
-outside on a sunny day.

-gaze into a candle flame or bonfire.

-light candles.

-watch fireworks.

-cook with fire.

-warm yourself by a fire.

-visit a pyrotechnics show.



An Exercise:
Sit comfortably. Breathe in, pause, then breathe out. Feel fire fill your lungs, feel it leave your body, leaving you chilled. Become one with fire. Once you are comfortable with this, try to further it.
Sit comfortably, and hold your hands in front of you, parted slightly. Visualize a bottle or box between your hands. Inhale deeply, and as you exhale, visualize flames coming out of you going into the container between your hands. Three to five breaths should fill it. Then, inhale back into yourself from the bottle with the same amount of breaths. Practice this until it is easy for you.
