My name is Cambria. I am looking for some guidance in Wicca. I am a beginner and in need of a teacher.

As a young woman you will be strong as long as you practice the basic tenant 'Do No Harm' In the Source of all things. Blessed Be.
Regarding the "black arts," most of us reach a point in our studies where we learn this stuff simply so we can counteract it. I can ground a curse only because I know how to curse. I don't curse, which is why my ex-husband is still walking around today...but an advanced witch of any or no Tradition eventually learns that you can't fight something if you're unfamiliar with it. I clear malevolent hauntings professionally, for instance, and without knowledge of the black arts, I couldn't help the people I help.
Hi, Cambria. I'm not taking official long distance students, but I'm a 3rd degree Traditional High Priestess and I'm happy to answer questions and geek out about Wicca in all its forms. I will let you know that Wicca isn't a "make it up as you go along" thing and has very specific parameters that make it Wicca as opposed to generalized Neo-Paganism. Most Solitaries are actually practicing something closer to eclectic Paganism that borrows from Wicca, which is fine. But those who say "all you need is an open mind" are confused. Wicca is quite specific, has very specific rites, etc.
I believe to be a Wiccan or a Pagan all you really need to do is follow your heart and to keep an open mind.
Have you ever tried crystal gazing Sara? I like clear quartz ,obsidian or smokey quartz. A good meditation cd I lean towards singing bowls or hand pans and a couple of bees wax candles and a dark room. Just meditate and let your mind wonder.
Me too. . . Books are always good. . .
I've read a little of a book by Scott Cunningham called "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner".
