Sitting there lonely
In a fortress of her own design
Sitting there so lovely
She'll never ever be mine
All I can offer is myself
And that isn't enough
She has so many suitors
Thank the lord I am tough
Sitting there lonely
She slowly breaks my heart
That old familar feeling
Damn that pain does smart
But like a suit of armor
I refuse to bend or break
Let it fall on me
Give me all that I can take
I shrug it off
It rolls down my side
I see it before it comes
My eyes opened wide
Sitting there lonley
In a fortress made of time
I'm looking for the ramparts
But there's nowhere I can climb
It's not meant for me to reach her
So I just sigh
Looking to the heavens
Looking for signs in the sky
Sitting there so lovely
Pretty as can be
I raise my banner tall and high
But I fear she just won't see
