The arrogant soul
Thinks he knows all
How foolish are we
Who don't see as he does
Who don't understand
The great wisdom
That he shares
Speak on high
Oh mighty orator
Sprinkle us with truth
Share with me
Your great catalog of knowledge
Oh little
Insignificant me
Flaunt your expansive
Education
Before my humbled eyes
All of academia looks to you
Champion of their recycled ideas
We appreciate your patience
As it must frustrate you
With our slow pace
You're fifty pages ahead
Of everybody else
And don't you just
Read everybody like a book?
By Jove what faults do you harbor?
None that can be spotted
By my ignorant eyes
I preach love and empathy
So do I make them weak?
Shall we not care for the infirmed?
Shall we not feed the hungry?
Shall we not clothe the poor?
Shall we let the terminal die?
Will that teach them to be strong?
If only my eyes
Were as opened as yours
Then I could see so much
That I can forget how to feel
