History and the Witch Hunts

For most people, the witch hunts provide one of the most powerful testimonies of the evils of institutional religion and specifically the Christian Church. According to the popular image of the witch hunts, this was the time when a powerful Christian church kept humanity in ignorance and superstition, exercising a tyranny over intellectual life that saw hundreds of thousands, if not millions of innocent women sent to the stake. It was a campaign of… Continue

The Green Man

I don't know if any of you have seen this or heard of it. I thought it was amazing. It is a picture of The Green Man in a garden. Here is the link to the picture.

Sorry if it's not linked.

Peace o' mind

O' Lady O' Lord grant me the peace of mind to go through the day, and by night. Grant me the self control that I keep my words in order, when surrounded by chaos. Grant me the self control so that I don't react to mundane stupidity. Grant me the wisdom to know better and the cunning to apply with grace. Grant me the ability to learn & grow and pass along what I…

The Pentagram

The earliest known use of the pentagram dates back to around 3500BC at Ur of the Chaldees in Ancient Mesopotamia where it was symbolic of imperial power. (And just before that time roughly a thousand years prior came the mystery of the inverted pyramid of Egypt, at the bass of the pyramid there are four point the fifth is the in the center and most highest point.)

Amongst the Hebrews, the symbol was ascribed to Truth and to the five books of the Pentateuch. It is sometimes,… Continue

A dream I had...???

Recently I had a dream that I am still wondering about.

I was dreaming nothing but darkness. Then suddenly there were flashes, like lighting. As the lights were flashing, a man's face appeared. He had light skin, brown semi-curly hair and beard. He had a crown of some sort of leaves. I couldn't make out the color of his eyes because of all the lights flashing.

Then I woke up. I was wondering if any of you had any ideas of what this dream may mean? Or if these are symbols… Continue

What'sa Kraken?

Scientists at the national museum of New Zealand, Te Papa, have recently completed dissections of several enormous squids, including pieces of a colossal squid -- the largest invertebrate ever caught. The female specimen weighs more than 1,000 pounds and measures 26 feet long.

The squid's resemblance to fiction's monsters of the deep, including its dinner-plate-size eyes, has attracted global interest. Scientists now believe the cephalopods can grow even larger, to more than 45 feet… Continue

So...

I don't exactly remember what rekindled my interest in paganism, or any religion at all, really. For the past few years, I have been nothing but agnostic, refusing to make any claims about things I couldn't possibly know. And to me, that makes sense. Just as it makes sense to me that it is not my place to judge other people. Yes, I talk about them, voice my opinion, and can do little to stop myself from forming an opinion, but the fact of the matter is, what I think doesn't mean shit to most… Continue

The legend of baphomet

Origins of the Name

Many theories exist as to the origin of the term, including:

* Von Hammer derived it from the Greek words Baphe and Metis. The two words together mean "Baptism of Wisdom." sounds probable

* Many commentators have concluded that it is a deformation of the Latinised "Mahomet," a mediæval European rendering of Muhammad (مُحَمَد), the name of the Prophet of Islam.

( Ba and ma two different sounds those of older origins would of pronounced… Continue

FIRST SPELL

WHAT ' S THE VERY FIRST SPELL THAT YOU CAST?

Added by penelope on December 21, 2008 at 1:00am — 4 Comments

What got you started?(this is a rant)

For me it was a series of vission-type dreams. The images to shamanistic to be ignored. The timing also seemed to play in factor.

1st. the dreams... being struck by lighting in the 3rd eye,

Being bitten by a White-winged Cobra also in 3rd eye, waking from a dream in the dream.

Doing battle with myself on an old rope suspension bridge over a dry jagged valley.

Always kind of looked at Rod Serling as a possible spirit guide.

NOVEL IDEAS AND USES FOR EVERYDAY THINGS!!! (I could add all these separately but that would be a pain in the ass...)

here's the rest...

10 New Uses for Newspaper

“Newspaper, by design, is a very absorbent product, because it has to absorb ink. But that also means it is equipped to absorb all sorts of moisture, including moisture and the resulting odors found in shoes, in vegetable drawers, and elsewhere,” says Chris Morrissey, vice president of marketing for Sun Chemical, in Northlake, Illinois, the world’s largest printing-ink manufacturer.

OLIVE new ideas... OLIVE OIL! TEN NEW USES!!

10 New Uses for Olive Oil No.. not THIS one...

THIS one...

Olive oil is a good lubricant because its molecules easily slide past one another, thereby helping solid objects to overcome friction.
