Inner Child / Outer Child

This week, it's Kids' stuff here on The spiral Dance. Our theme is The Inner Child.

What does the Inner Child mean to you? Do you feel trustful toward your Inner Child?

These are the sorts of questions we'll be examining in the first part of the show. And pretty soon we'll listen to a recorded guided meditation from Alan Cohen for connecting with your Inner Child. This is from his album, "Journey to the Center of the Heart", and the meditation is called "Beloved…

the gift of words

Some of us write to calm our minds

Others write to pas the time.

We are inspired by the land and firmements,

Others use their testiments.

No matter what it is we use,

Be it winter snows or summer dews.

Always know you carry a greater gift,

Not just some fabled myth.

I want you all to say how you feel,

Take the impossible and make it real.

For inside you is true magic,

Be it wondrous, or be it… Continue

The Wicca'ed

An appellate court judge in California recently overruled a lower court judge’s dismissal of a suit filed by Wiccan inmates requesting the state of California provide Wiccan prisoners in the California penitentiary system with a Wiccan chaplain to administer to their spiritual needs, since five other religious denominations already have their own chaplains provided by the state. A challenge as to whether or not there are sufficient numbers of Wiccans in California prisons to warrant their…

February; Fire and Ice

This week on The Spiral Dance, our Theme is February, Fire and Ice.

February is the second month of the Gregorian calendar, and the year's shortest month. It's named for the FEBRUA, a Roman purification festival. And so we'll talk a bit about the Roman God, Februus later in the show.

The astrological sign of Aquarius, January 20 - February 18th is associated with February. Aquarius, the Water-Bearer, is a fixed Air sign ruled by the planet Uranus.

February's full moon is…

someone's help please?!?

About 7 years ago something happened to me and to this day I haven't been able to figure out what it means. I was outside one summer night it was a full moon. I've always loved being out on a full moon. All the sudden I was in the middle of the road and couldn't move. I heard whispers all around me but couldn't make out what they were saying as though they were speaking another language. I saw a woman in a black dress or cloak float across the moon. I know and could feel it wasn't cloud because… Continue

The Seagulls Won't Eat

i was in the backyard turning soil in preparation for Spring planting when something landed next to my shovel. i paused to look and immediately questioned, "who's throwing things"? When i moved in to get a closer look at the object the question "is someone trying to poison my dog" came to mind. i grabbed the meat and jumped up onto the planter box to look over into the neighbors yard and saw no one. The caws of birds overhead caught my attention. As i watched a flock of seagulls…

A Night In The Old South

A Night In The Old South

Ellen heard muffled voices somewhere off in the darkness and froze in her tracks. The rutted path upon which she struggled to keep her footing had no doubt been recently trampled by soldiers on their way to and from the irregular picket-lines which the tattered remnants of the Georgia Militia had stretched thinly through the woods northwest of Savannah to…

The Warriors of Light

Born under oaken leaves,
We meet in fields beyond the trees.

The song of flames guide your sword,
Stars and stones carry out thy word.

Through shadows, under black sunlight,
Once together we harness our might.

Mist and cloud, shadow and shade,
Together, our light shall never fade.

Faerie Circles

http://sweetnet.us/wp-content/uploads/faerie-circles.jpg

The rains had come aplenty with the early spring and everything seemed so much greener than March ought to be. I honestly didn’t think much of Helen’s plan for our outing today as I knew the lane leading back into the woods would be awash with muddy puddles. The odds of us getting our biskees paddled for dragging our hems in the watery ruts the tractor had left in the narrow dirt lane going back to the woods were pretty…

Dark Spirits of December

This week, as we welcome December under a Dark Moon, we dance with The Dark Spirits of December! December's Full Moon is called The Cold Moon, and for good reason. We wait in Darkness as we await the return of the Sun at Yule.

I'm going to read for you an abridged version of Inana's descent to the Under World. And from way up north, we'll talk about Louhi, the Fierce Finnish Goddess of the Arctic.

Then, finally - this time of Dark and…

Rainbow Warrior

Native Americans sustained their civilizations for 10,000 years living in harmony with nature before the Europeans forced them from their lands and ended their culture.  The white man has been on our soil for barely 300 years and has very nearly destroyed the natural environment, rapaciously taking from the land, giving nothing back.  The endless woodlands are gone.  The rivers and streams are muddied and polluted.  The air increasingly brings asthma and other respiratory…

Visitation Rites

This week, we talk about Aliens - Extraterestials.

I want to say at the start that I really don't believe in aliens. At least, I'm a doubter - a strong doubter.

Here's what I believe:

I have no doubt that in this vast universe there must be other Intelligent life forms. And, just because we, at our current stage of developement, can't reach them, doesn't mean that they can't reach us - by whatever means they may have.

But the evidence of alien contact is, to me,…

Home and Hearth

Home and Hearth will be our theme this week. The days are getting ever shorter; the average daytime temperatures are getting ever lower. So, as we move ever deeper into the Season of Cold and Dark, we take the opportunity to look even more Inward.

This is the time of year that calls us back home. We're going to take a look at what The Home has meant to humans down the ages, and how people in different cultures have related to that ever so important part of the home - The…
