This time of year it is a common thing for people to say "Merry Christmas" to anyone and everyone several times a day. I usually say "have a nice holiday" back... but there have been times when I get tired and just say "you too". :)

I am just wondering how everyone else responds and if you make a big deal about it, or like me am just too tired to argue about it. :)

I am going to ask each of you to look at things a little differently for the next week. Actually it is a sort of challenge, a dare if you will.



I am going to ask you to really think about how you treat those older than yourselves. Not only the 80 year old great grandma figure that shuffles with a walker... but those who are your parents age or older and I will tell you why.

She stands alone. Alone and waiting. Eyes dim with age, seeing more clearly than the young. Mute, she speaks volumes to those who will listen. She shuffles carefully over broken stones as she wanders with a gnarled hand holding staff. She is here, she is gone. Her cold breath surrounds. Watchful, waiting. Death or life... rebirth. She waits.

When you cast your circle and create your magicks... do you use poetry? The reason I ask is because when I was new to paganism I was told that all spells had to be done poetically. I was very frustrated because though I love to read poetry... it takes me days to write a poetically correct passage. I no longer need poetry.. I just communicate and that seems to work for me. But what about you?

Today at work all I heard from every direction was what people were going through trying to get ready for the "big day" (Christmas). It didn't bother me... I just oohed and aahed to everything they said. Later in the day someone brought up that I had it easy because I wasn't Christian. A fairly new... and rather young woman.. asked "you aren't Christian?" I responded no, I am pagan. She asked "Why did you become a pagan?"
