Those men in the pics are in the orange suits because the cave is located directly over a volcanic thermal vent. They must wear a COOLING SUIT which circulates refrigerated water around their bodies. They have about 30 minutes to an hour of oxygen and are allowed in the cave for only 10 minutes maximum. Likewise, selenite is very soft - only about a 4 on the Mohs geological hardness scale (college Geology pays off eh?) and will scratch EASILY from the soles of rubber boots. Some crystals have been measured at over 14 FEET.
Selenite is a POWERFUL healing stone used often in reiki healing as its energy clears the auric field of negativity and makes psychic surgery and energy healing that much more effective.
The reason for the orange cooling suits: The humidity inside the cave is over 90%. The temperature, about 118 degrees Fahrenheit. I believe the cave was found near some sort of mine - I recall possibly a salt or copper mine?? (brain fart)... The air is HIGHLY acidic and humid which will reek havoc on the lungs, causes disorientation and the temperature alone can easily dehydrate a human in a matter of minutes. Humans can only withstand temperatures of about 110 degrees MAX before our bodies start to shut down.
Tours are virtually impossible and the Mexican government is trying to protect the cave from exploitation from people who enter the cave wanting to explore or want to mine the giant crystals for sale.
This cave ACTUALLY EXISTS! This is Crystal Cave in Mexico. The crystals are ancient blades of SELENITE (same stuff used to make drywall). Bet you never imagine "drywall" so magnificent in your life. I drooled over this pic for HOURS.
