It was a sanctuary dedicated Demeter Da-Mater or mother earth,gaia the provider of grains.People were giving their eucharists to her until was raised to the ground by the early christians.That's why I say christianity and paganism are two opposite ideologies.You cannot be a pagan and christian at the same time.It is the gratest lie to say that christianity was spread by love.Only in Greece ,Balkans,Asia minor and Egypt 20 million were slaughtered by the revealed religion.In Europe also many more.
