Prologue:
It all seemed like it had been a dream when it happened. People were still driving cars, and very few walked now a day’s do to how dirty it had become. Not to mention dangerous due to increases of maddening gang out breaks between the rival communities each one represented by an animal symbol. Around here it's between the falcons, and the snakes. None of us knew how we got here on this world called Earth of all places. Only thing we knew for sure is we were no longer home. Most of the others died out do to so much pollution in the strange world of creatures called humans.
Eventually we merged with their society blending in more, and more. We tried our best to forget. To think of us demoting ourselves like this... Some of us couldn't take it we tried our best to show them that they were hurting themselves as well as our kind, and to nurture mother earth though sadley for the most part it did little good. They would care for a wile, but then it would just get even worse. Not all of us were wanting to live with them, and we revolted. Thus we were forced to stay here trapped in human bodies with souls none human. We were labeled as the outcasts of society human and by our own kind a like. we were marked...branded on our neck to show what we are. When we tried to get it to stop, but only ended up making things become more complicated when we spoke out. Almost all who did were accused of creating an imbalance for having a different opinion, and were silenced....the others. well they chose to hide.

Chapter 1
"Eric how many times have I told you to take out the trash? We need to do our part ya know.""Ok ok I’m going!" Though I don't see what the point is Eric mumbled."Look if you want to stay here you need to earn your keep” Said John Thompson drunkenly, holding a bear in his left hand. Rolling his eyes Eric dragged the garbage bags with glass bottles, cans, newspapers, and other bits of random trash through the door way into the living room. "Why can't we just recycle it's better for the"
Eric started to say "Recycle!" John Said mockingly. "Oooh were hurting the environment" "grow up people have been doing this forever it's never killed us. Sides everyone does it recycling is not normal" In frustration Eric cut a huge gash in the garbage bag dumping its contents all over the carpet rug, and snapped "You do it then" said Eric. "I will have no part of it if we are going to be harming this planet, and not trying to help the earth." Infuriated Thompson said "Get the Hell out of my house then! Boy this is the last straw." "You won't listen... Always whining about the earth this or the earth that." Said John Thompson mockingly with the words slurred do mostly to the overly excessive amount of liquor. "Fine then I will" said Eric who went upstairs and grabbed a duffel bag and grabbed as much as he could fit. Clothes, saved money, his favorite knife, an extra pare of shoes, and his wind breaker then headed quickly down stares grabbed some food and stuffed it into his bag as well and headed towards the front door where he was half thrown half slammed against the door. Johnson held him up against the front door. Johnson Said while breathing so close to Eric’s face with the smell of liquor on his breath. "You listen well an you listen good boy! You get the hell out an stay out an don't you ever come or even so much as glance back or I swear I’ll kill you yuh here. Your dead ta me. Now get"
As soon as John Thompson let go, Eric grabbed his stuff then set off running towards the rail road tracks not daring to look back. For a full day the incident played throughout his head over and over again. Eric felt numb. So numb all he could do was just keep walking along side the tracks. Even after walking four miles he did not look back, and nor did he stop to eat. At about mid day he became dizzy. Falling to the ground his eyes began to close. When he next opened his eyes he saw a girl asking him if he could stand, and then everything blurred once more into sweet darkness.
"Will he be alright?"
"He’s just dehydrated, and in need of rest...... Where did you find him....." "If he wakes don't let him....". "We see cases like this almost too often where....." "He would have probably been better off not being found especial by us what if he’s……" "Would he taste ……." "Not really but good enough though…."
"Where am I? Am I dead or alive...So...Sleepy." Eric Said to himself as he entered a deep sleep, and let it engulf him entirely once more do to exhaustion.

Samantha was the only child and lived alone with her mother for...well as long as she could remember. Their town was little but nice and she was very caring. Especially to strays, and homeless people. Samantha was almost always taking care of something. She was normally teased since she could never say no to help someone in need when she was able. Though that never stopped her before.
"Good morning Samantha here’s your usual bread loaves" said the market lady Sally Joe, and I threw in some left over casserole for the boy as well. He is alive still ain't he."
"Yes I haven’t poisoned him just yet I needed the casserole of yours before I can start" Samantha said jokingly knowing full well that Sally Joe was one of the if not the best cook after her mother.
"Why are yuh such a tomb by all the time? When yuh gonna become an actual lady an settle down" Sally Joe joked right back
"Why when the world makes sense to me of course" said Samantha right back
“Yeah whenever that happens. That will be five dollars even by the way." Sally Joe said with her usual warm smile "When it does you will be the first one I let know" Samantha said as she handed the crumpled up five one dollar bills then headed out for home ounce more. As she was walking back all she could think about was the strange boy with odd clothing and an even stranger cent. It was not like most humans, but at the same time it was not like them. She hoped he liked pizza at least then they might have something in common. While chuckling at that she continued more hurriedly home.
When she got home she was greeted with a exotic aroma. As she entered the kitchen she saw her mother Tonya was boiling some chicken stew with mushrooms, green peppers, chicken broth, rice, beans, and other herbs and spices. The fragrance as always mouth watering, and a rare treat indeed! For it was not often that she went all out with her cooking unless we had someone actually with us. The house being more like a small apartment was not the most privet area in the world not to mention it being pretty old as well. That being said my mother noticed when I came inside the kitchen. “Smells good mom. You didn’t actually cook him in there as well did you” Samantha said teasingly.
“Very funny” said Tonya “I’ll have you know I have been slaving away trying to get something for when our latest stray wakes up and he better be grateful I was saving this roast for your birthday you know. Did you at least get the bread I asked you to buy?”
Chuckling and knowing full well how much her mother hated to not be called by her name Samantha replied with a slight chuckle “Yes mother, and I set it on the table”
With a sigh Tonya fell for the bait. “ Look I’m tired, and you know money is tight. You know I love you, but the fact is we need that boy gone as soon as he is able to go back home to where ever he lives. Did he have any ID on him his parents must be worried sick.”
“Yeah he had one on him but I doubt his name is Hubert, and he is 42 years old” replied Samantha. With another reluctant sigh Tonya continued to work on the stew, and cutting some carrots with reluctance at that to add to the stew. With that Samantha went to check on the boy they had rescued from near death. As she carefully entered the room she saw him lying there. He was covered up under her mother’s bed with a cloth on top of his head, and a small bowl of water sitting on the bed stand. He was an interesting one though that was not saying much for Samantha had never seen a human boy up close before. He had amber colored hair and looked about 5’7” roughly about an inch and a half taller than her. He seemed like he was in such peaceful state,so she decided to not try and wake him just yet. Instead she decided to take a shower after all she needed it after all the running. With that Samantha re dipped the wash cloth into the water and squeezed then dabbed the boys cheeks then set it back on his forehead then headed towards the shower smiling knowing her mother enjoyed doing this just as much as she did helping strays.
After Samantha got out of the shower she put on a pare of jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie with a tribal symbol on the back. (her usual get up) and headed towards the kitchen. "how's our latest stray doing at the moment?" asked Tonya who was now doing some number mind thing called Suduku that had recently become her latest obsession.
"Fine far as I can tell he's sleeping his fever has gone down as well though He still has not opened his eyes" said Samantha. "Hey you don't suppose he's blind do you?"With that comment Tonya set her pencil down and smiled "Here I saved you The funny pages." Said Tonya, and handed them to Samantha "and trust me he'll wake up when he's able an I doubt he's blind."
Chapter 2
His head felt like a jack hammer was drilling into his skull.
his body felt stiff as if he had been out for a long while. As he opened his eyes he looked around at his surroundings. He noticed the bed he was on was a low bed cot a bowl sat next to the pillow where his head had been with a damp cloth sitting in the water. What happened to me he thought while rubbing his left temple of his head he slowly continued to look around. The room was made of wood a desk and a chair and one other chair next to a stand with a warn down candle. Eric felt week, But new he couldn't stay here he had to get away. Slowly he went to the door and opened it to a hall way, and looked about seeing no one in site, and no lights on. He carefully closed the door, or so he thought. "Oh good your finally up" said Sally Joe in a somewhat stern yet alluring voice. Eric froze, and didn't dare to look behind him. "Suppers ready ,and your clothes are washed and drying so you might as well ea,." said Sally Joe as she turned and headed back down to the kitchen-living room. Sighing Eric slowly followed not wishing to be rude since they apparently did save his life, and he did after all need back his clothes so Eric reluctantly followed after.
