I may be wrong as Ive had no formal training in these things by why put the thing in there when Im the one asking the question and dealing the cards. I tend to go with feelings and intuition on these things and Im sure there may be some people out there who are more enlightened so Im always open to suggestion

Comment by sharon on December 1, 2010 at 7:02am: Had to look up Asatru as its been a while since I had heard that term. Im a solitary so the things Ive learnt has been via books or the hard way. Practical applications work best as teachers with me anyway. I used the old Germanic runes on my stones as they are simpler to decifer but Ive tossed out the blank as I found it an annoyance to work with. It was only recently added anyway so I didnt see the point of having "me" in the reading when I know Im there asking the questions. I suggest you write down all the different types of runes onto a few pages - one set per page and see which talks to you. Thats what I did and then left the pages on the alter with my resident guardian sitting ontop for a rew days. It worked as Ive been using them for the last three years and my clay sets now at home in the cupbord.

Comment by Sam Morgan on November 30, 2010 at 10:26pm: That is a great idea. Did you use old or new runes? I don't know the differents but I do know there is a differents. There is a large group of Asatru in my area. I have meet with them several times over the years. They use to e-mail me the rune of the month and explained what it was for and how it was to help with my life. I didn't learn very well.

Comment by sharon on November 29, 2010 at 10:03am: Maby you should try making your own as the effort that is put into them may aid them to start working. but then again Im maths illiterate and numbers dont compute so I run away from things like star charts and numerology and the like. I guess some things work for some and not for others so go with what you are comfortable with I say.

Comment by Sam Morgan on November 24, 2010 at 5:49pm: I use the "Tarot of the old path". It is my main deck. I have used for 20 years. I have tried others but this is by far the best readings for me. I don't always get the answers I want but at least I know where I stand on the issue at hand. Some of the answers I have to study for aday or two until I am ready to move on.
I am not any good at runes. I have a blessed set of hand made given to me by another witch. They just do not talk to me or I am just very deaf.

Comment by sharon on November 24, 2010 at 5:50am: Ive a tarot deck bought in Eireland going on 15 years ago called the "witchy tarot". It was love at first sight but I prefer runestones that I made myself. The tigers eye stones were picked up on the ground on a trip through the Karoo and I spent ages polishing and marking them -came out really well but they get negative feedback when I show them due to the tigers eye stones I used. They work for me though which is the main thing. I use my deck - sometimes both together and get some interesting readings upon occasion.

They need loving too. Sometimes when I am sitting or cooking, I hear them talking in the other room. If it goes on for 20 or 30 minutes I will go in the room to stop them. Of course, when I walk in everything is quite. I have found that after I walk in the room. I don't hear them any more until they start again some other time. I have wondered what could they be talk about for a long time because if I don't go in the room they will talk for about a hour or so. Life is so intereting living with them.
