I have used the IChing for divination and for compatibility I've used a system that has ancient roots - using a standard deck of cards. I would like to know more about all of this, including others experiences with what I also use. Thanx!

I use several forms of divination. I mainly use tarot, but I like to scry a lot. The methods I am versed in is: tarot, runes, oaghm, fire scrying, mirror gazing, geomancy, omens and portents, wax and water, augery (I know how to use but don't practice), and crystal gazing. i would love to talk more about these. Please tell me what you think.

HAHA - yeah some typos you will find - those poor nature spirits didnt swell in fresh water -- LMAO!!! They dwelled of course!!

Very interesting Scrying is - and so many different ways to do it. An earlier discussion with a friend reminded me of the times I saw an image or images in either water or fire. This being all new to me I am interested as to why those images came freely to me - without the process of Scrying. I looked into this and there seems to be a generalized method of doing this. Definately gonna try this but thought it might be interesting to hear of different ways this worked for others. Seems that this would work best if the water you use is clean and fresh - like from a stream and best if collected at night and of course - even better if there's a full moon. The Ancient Greeks believed that nature spirits swelled in fresh water - you can store your water and reuse it but should change it once a month. For best results the bowl should be deep and made from glass, brass or silver - smooth and even rimmed. Using some sort of tripod for a base to put your bowl on is best and preferably made of Laurel boughs. Make a wand using a branch from a bay or hazel tree or from the Laurel. The end of it should be covered in some sort of resin. Dip the wand in the water and wet the rim of the bowl. By drawing the rim of the bowl it will cause it to resonate causing circular ripples to form. The harmonics start to whisper and this is when you will see visual impressions. If the images are large they will occur sooner - the smaller background ones take longer to manifest. You could also put the bowl in a dark room with 2 candles on either side. Best to do this at night though - when its quiet. The abillity to concentrate is key. You may not see anything the first time you try this but your level of concentration may be stronger next time - the effort taken in concentrating will pay off eventually. Scrying works on the principles of the Ganzfeld effect. Ever stare at a blank wall and find that eventually you become dizzy - hallucinate - see patterns etc? Thats the Ganzfeld effect. Interesting!!

So ya get your tools all ready - put yourself in a totally peaceful state and if you are using glass or a bowl that's not dark it is now that you would add a few drops of ink. The water must be dark.

I've never tried this but am definately going to. There are so many different ways of Scrying.

I too would be very interested in the experiences of others in this area. This is just what I have learned so far. Fascinating!!

found this so far - very basic but doesnt say anything about treating the water or anything like that - just for starters - interesting the ink thing

This method of scrying uses water in a bowl. I’ve found that an earthenware bowl with clear, spring water works the best with this method. Go outside (or if you need to stay in sit at a windowsill) and pour the water into the bowl. Begin relaxing with deep breathing exercises and by decreasing loud music and lights. Best would be to put some light music on and illuminate the area with white candles. Close your eyes and take a deep breath thru your nose and exhale completely thru your mouth. Allow your body and mind to relax. Once you feel completely at peace you can add a few drops of ink into the water (if you so choose) to turn the water black. Sometimes when you’re working with Moon/Water Scrying the darker the water is the more clearly you will see the images. Position the bowl so you can catch the reflection of the moon on the surface of the moon. Ask a question in your head or just gaze into the water looking for random images. The images that you see may appear hazy at first, but then become clearer. The larger the images appear the sooner those images will manifest themselves. Smaller images may take longer to appear, thus take longer to manifest themselves. You will be shown images and hear things (in your head) that day that you are meant to hear at this time.
