General idea for this forum...

Hi Newbies and Advisors!

So glad you made it here. Thanks for joining both this group and the community. Ask for what you are seeking and another might help you find it.
Feel free to start a discussion or post comments on the wall (like many so far, thanks)...
That's the idea anyway!
This group is very loosely administered... It's more a point of connection for new community members looking to meet others. New members may or may not be new to the concept of Paganism etc.

Express yourself!

Hugs,
Rebecca

I was teasing Elaine. I do relate to your problem. The following is the first thing I read this morning.

Growing Up

"Often as a child in the physical world one is asked 'What do you want to be when you grow up'?

The answers vary from child to child as their years advance for each of those children. It is a typical question asked of various cultures, each one with its parameters & definitions.

We ask, however, how many of you ask of yourselves what you will be if your soul learns all of its proposed lessons and essentially grows up?

We realize there is a concept of soulful growth but it is often intertwined with a religious moment or a concept outdated by advancement not perceived by the linear self.

In the timeline the idea of goal changes as the child develops and considers new ideas & opportunities. What one ascribed to at age 8 usually aligns differently by the age of 18. At 28 all of those thoughts may be replaced by ones never considered by the teenager or the child.

Thus it is for the soul.

You are ever evolving. The idea of clinging to concepts out dated by your advancement seems ridiculous in print. However, there are a number of you who do so out of obligation and/or tradition.

As you feel yourself 'growing up' spiritually it is important to consider the progress of your soul and what is necessary to maintain it in the linear.

Releasing concepts no longer relevant to the soul is imperative. It is not perhaps turning away from god, but actually turning inward to the self & soul, the ultimate manifestation of god."

i know that donna i dont expect anything like harry potter been into this stuff long enough to know that hun even simple ritual spells or charms i dont seem to manage very well i seem to hit it on the head when i need to but i dont know how or why it just happens and i know its more will and state of mind when it comes to wicca also that its being in balance with your self and your surroundings hun and agree that you cant always get what you want and dont expect to and im only a small part of the whole picture but it is an important role some how i just dont know in what context hun

First of all, I'd say don't expect anything like you would see in Harry Potter although that would be pretty awesome. Majick is the realm of the mind and the processes of coming more in touch with your sub-conscious needs and motivations. It's also a matter of of influencing your ability to relate to nature and your surroundings and to others on a more intuitive and meaningful level. We all have instincts that we fail to recognize and heed and we all have the power to tap into other perspectives that allow us to solve problems and deal with our lives in a more meaningful and effective way. Also, the Stones got it right when they said, "You can't always get what you want, but sometimes, if you try, you can get what you need."

What do you mean when you say it doesn't pan out?
Comment by elaine on December 2, 2008 at 3:59pm
i have an open mind but not sure im not closed minded at all as for the eclectic expression of the spirt i can express my self in many ways but they dont always pan out so i tend to be withdrawn maybe that is the problem im not sure

Elaine, I'd say that if you're still seeking that means you're still learning and that's a symptom of incurable intelligence. There are one or two religions out there that will stifle your intelligent instincts to seek and learn. Paganism demands an open and curious mind and it allows for an electic expression of the spirit.
