My totem animals are the owl and wolf.
I just started here tonight but I've learned alot about animal totems and guides over the years. I was lucky enough to write an article about it for Pathways magazine I'll post on my page at some point "A beginner's guide to finding your Animal Totem or Spirit guide." I was very happy to be able take classes from Ted Andrew the few times he came to St. Louis and learned alot from him. He was amazing.
However mine are the Raven, the bluejay, vulture, hyena, okapi, wolverine, sea lion, and quagga( a type of extinct plains zebra) . I have found more and more circumstances where I have been related to these guides over the years even to the point of my husband saying he was "weirded out" by the coincidences but then again I just accept them and if people seem interested I talk to them about their animal totems if I get feelings about it.
My totem animal is Fox. She guides me when I'm lost and helps me through life's challenges. I am very grateful to her.
Crows. I wouldn't try to own one.
The wolf is a pack animal and loves to be part of a group/family. Its no wonder that so meny of us claim wolf as 1 of their totems. Cat( particularily leopard ) is also another of mine. So is the tramendes tortiose/ the clever raven..as a matter of fact the peacock made a strong declaration on my daughter. When she was still a new born her father took us to a place that had close to a dozen peacocks and hens. When i stepped out of the car and took her from the car seat they all started to gather close to her and i. Then the cocks spread their tails and called out in what seemed a salute to her. When her father and i were on the brink of splitting up he had a disturbing dream he shared with me. It started out with an ostrage with its head in the ground, hiding. When it pulled its head out of the earth the head was skeletle and it spread out a full peacock tail...hmmmm..wonder what that ment.>;>
I meditated once, using a book as a guide, to find my totem animal and I felt close to finding them until my younger sister ran in and messed me up. What I caught a glimpse of seemed to be a tanuki--a japanese racoon dog. I don't know what it meant but before my sister busted in on me it had been coming towards me while I sat in the middle of a circle of trees. The book said that it was different for everyone, but that the animal should take you somewhere. I wonder where it would have taken me?
I have several.. Dog, Bear, Wolf, cougar and a few others that show up from time to time. I also have one that shows up as a Dragon (don't ask me why.. ) they show up when I go into deep meditation.. they were there when the spirits gave me the name Shadowalker.. They work with me and I work with them...
i don't know my main one or my others but i know i have a rabbit- i used a pendulum to find out but i'd like to go to an angel reader to know more
I have always had a sense of my guide or totem, and felt the need to surround myself with her image. I had the good fortune to fall into a very deep meditation for another reason and meet her along the way. She has been with me for a very long time and I feel blessed to have her guidance and constant companionship. I learned just recently through seeing an angel reader that a new totem has joined her to help guide me along whatever path is meant for me and for whatever lessons I have yet to learn. I am still trying to learn how to contact them both in a way that allows me to know them more fully. My initial meeting of my most trusted companion was fleeting, and I have yet to reproduce the deep meditative state I achieved that day. My oldest and trusted guide is a wolf, and the newcomer is a bison/buffalo, a blessing that I never take for granted.

I've had a connection to animals as long as I can remember, particularly anything that could fly. When I was in middle school one of my permanent totems, red-tailed hawk presented itself (hate using the word "it" but it was the totem in general, so no gender was specified) to me through dreams that I think may've been at least partial astral projections. In the most prominent trip my totem merged with me (a shapeshift for me) and we stayed that way through the trip. It's one of my most cherished memories and taught me a lot about how a hawk sees life.
Also a couple others I have are dragon, possibly crow or raven, and bat, and maybe moth. My shadow totems are spider and shark. Those are all I'm aware of at the moment.
