I joined a local grove about 4 years ago. The group leader was very knowledgeable but all rituals were based on her beliefs, and ideas from others weren't welcome. You were required to attend every gathering, but times and dates were based on her schedule, with 3 kids and 2 jobs it made it hard for me to attend all gatherings. This kind of group is good for someone who has no other commitments and for some that need a guided structure.
My personal belief is that within a group of people all ideas should be welcome so that all can grow as individuals. If I ever found a group of people who put egos aside and focused on growth just maybe I would join another group. But for now solitary suits me best.
For the most part I've spent my time as a solitary Witch. In 2001 I branched out into an open circle based through a local occult book store. Let me tell you, I enjoyed being with other pagans during full moons, Esbats,& Sabats but the drama and witch wars that went along with it just spoiled it for me.I wouldn't mind returning to a Coven lifestyle but its all a matter of finding my balance.
Well I've never ever been in anything but Solitary, I wonder what a coven feels llike. But I think right now I might prefer Solitary. Because it's you who is trying to connect, and you don't have to worry if you mess uo someone elses ritual format. :) But I would like to know what it's like to be in a real coven. I bet It's wonderful, and beatiful
I've been in small unorganized covens before, and while nothing can beat the feeling of kinship and acceptance, I much prefer solitary. While solitary you are free to do things your own way and to me it puts me on a much more personal level with my patron gods. Plus if I wanna go skyclad I don't have to worry about making anyone uncomfortable.
ahmmm.. yeah...basically , i think growth is quite important for each individual especially in this path..., but i also guess in covens, you will be taught of discipline... but again on the other hand, what's the use of following someone else's "guidelines" if you do not feel comfortable with it...you will only produce -(or may produce)- negative energies which can be harmful to the members of the coven , especially when you are sending out some spells to the universe....i mean, there's a higher chance that it may backfire... I myself am weighing out these things, whether i will join in the coven or be solitary ...but for now, i think i am much comfortable with being solitary, for i feel i can focus better, and personally keep in touch with my energies.
yeah, definitely ...finding the perfect balance is quite important.., and most of all the essence of comfort... it is important to feel comfortable inside and out so you can easily tap the energies within you, as well as those that surround you , thus leading to attaining the harmony and the perfect balance in the success of your rituals.

well, i am also wondering how it feels like to be in a coven ..., yet still it depends upon you... being comfortable is quite essential to me, especially when casting my spells... in my case, i am so introvert, so this may affect my concentration... that's why i also like being solitary...maybe if i could meet others and have bonding with them and having that "at home" feeling..., well only then . i might think of joining a coven.

yeAH... i agree
Solitary. People do things in groups that they would never do as individuals. I have a touch of social anxiety! LOL!

ohhh... hmmm i wonder what they are...
Solitary. There are very few practicing close to where I live. We have a small study group that sometimes works together. I wish I at least had the option!

Hi,

Solitary for now, but I have been invited to join a coven. Not sure what I'll do yet...I like to do things my way, but also miss the connection of others who follow my path.

if u feel u're at ease in mingling with others, making bonds and sharing, and u feel like "growing" or nothing obstructs ur way, then go for it...... i wouldn't mind joining covens some time, but for the meantime, i would deak with my self, make some adjustments, coz like what i've mentioned in my previous replies, i am an introvert.... so for the meantime, i'll be solitary and find growth from deep within..
