Belief systems

Do you believe that people who have a strong belief system in place are less likely to be unkind or rude? Do you think it is the belief system or the way a person is raised? Or is it both? Or do you think there is something else that is creating more rudeness, irritablity and lack of concern for others? (topic was brought up by a teacher... then discussed at my workplace today.... lots of varying opinions... want to know what you think.)

I think that alot of times, it really depends on the individual personality. Some people think they are the only ones allowed to be right because they believe strongly there can only be one right choice. Those with a strong belief system tend to monitor themselves a little more closely, if they actually adhere to it. Thats just my opinion.

It's easy to " Talk the Talk ", but seemingly impossible for a lot, to " Walk the Walk ". No matter what one belieces in, if they can do that latter, they have NO " issues " to behave as you stated. I really believe that my generation and those after it ( I'm 54, but act crazy too ) tried to make sure our children were " shielded " from any and all harm and gave our children what we didn't have... A voice, an idea that was theirs. In theory, it is right, but the fall out is too huge now as a result. No respect, negativity and they challenge. It's a whole new world out there and it makes me nutz knowing they will be in charge. EEEKKK.

I have been called rude by people that dont even know me. I am a person that takes a little time to get to know people. For this reason I was called rude. I'm not the shinning star in the room, I'm the one that hangs around the familar people. I like to treat people the way I like to be treated. I take the time to help others in time of need with out even a second thought. It was the way I was raised. I don't like to be mean to people I would rather walk away or keep my mouth shut. I believe it was how your parents brought you up in life. I respect my elders. That is something that is being lost in this generation.
