active imagination is tool used to have a chat/conversation with your subconscious. it will help you to get more intouch with yourself and find answers that you need.
ways to practice active imagination (little note: you may not achieve it right away but this is a helpful too to become relaxed, to contact your inner self, and to help your mind to develop with the subconscious)
1) find a place to meditate....when you have time and won't be bothered by anyone/thing. this can be the outdoors, your bedroom, your bath, or where ever you feel comfortable and at peace.
2) this works best if you have soothing music or have a place where there are relaxing sounds. to get the full impact of this i swuggest hat you lay on your back..palms at the side facing upwards.
3) to start off....relax your body...starting from the feet up to the top of your head. consciously tell your body to relax each part of your body. once you feel relaxed and warm. go to thenext step
4) this step isn't nessisary but is very helpful....imagine a black hole sucking up black/gray smoke from your pours...this is a representation of your negative energy leaving your body. once you do that imagine a white/purple/gold mist surrounding....white represents purity, purple represent spirituality/psychic energy, and gold represents your higher consciousness.
5) let your mind create a scenary (ocean side, grassy feild, forest, etc...) and just imagin yourself there taking in it's surroundings.
6) let your mind create another person their with you...it can be anyone...someone you know or don't know
7) have a conversation with them..find out their name or whatever your wish about them. ask themany questions, or tell them soemthing that is troubleing you...and really concentrate on what they say and what answers they give you
8) when you have learned all that you want/need from them thank them and imagine them walking away....let the scenary slowly fade away...and slowly start to come back into your surroundings
9) take a bit of time to come out of it (cause you will experience drogginess/light headedness)...spend time thinking about what just happened and what you found out.
10) write down your experience and save it someplace....and take to hear what you learned.
this is an amazing tool to find answers and connect yourself to your subconscious.....if you have trouble meditating/stay still drink some calming teas...and i would suggest that you make a recording of the steps so you can listen and be guided through the steps without worrying if you missed anything......Very powerful stuff and very helpful!!!
enjoy and have fun with this ^_^
